Bio: This is a blog ostensibly about my taking early retirement after a 30+ year career as a law librarian. Since starting the blog in November of 2014, I have expanded the original scope from financial issues (i.e. pension, social security, 401(k), divorce, alimony) to discussions of politics, current events, music, and mostly life's comical ironies. I always try to return the focus to those serious issues that are germain to seniors, but my strong need for displays of irreverence and imbecility are often more dominant. So do join me as I encounter the highs, lows, pitfalls, and other challenges that will present themselves as we settle early into what I'm still told are the GOLDEN YEARS.     1. Kate, many thanks. I have been a gypsy since I graduated from college. The only constant is that I worked for the same employer for 31 years — they just allowed this restless soul to move around. But I truly hope my traveling days are over. I don’t have the energy anymore!

  4. happy to find your blog as I am contemplating retirement including a Big cross-country move — from California back to the Northeast. Yes, I have heard about the horrible winter they are having, but I am more or less alone out here, what family and old friends remain are stretched from SC to the Adirondacks (most north of NYC) ..
    Always interesting to read of others’ experiences with the big questions of when/where/how to retire.

  8. Well, Marty, I’m glad I stumbled upon this little venture of yours. I’m always glad to find a fellow new retirement blogger! I was not as wise as you, and have only recently started transferring An Encore Voyage, and its companion Encore Wanderings, from Blogger to WordPress. Yikes, that’s a lot of work! In any case, it seems we could be kindred spirits from opposite ends of the country – I’m in Idaho, where it is STINKIN’ COLD! Enjoy your voyage!

    1. Welcome and thanks for reading! I look forward to reading your blog as well. My choosing WordPress was probably accidental, really. I don’t think I had any clue which one to choose, which one to avoid, etc. Except for a few things I have been mostly satisfied with WordPress. Thanks again for stopping by!

Being a fairly recent retiree myself, it’s always fun to see how other retirees are dealing with such a drastic change in lifestyle.     1. Yep, sorry for the confusion on your site, Carol. I saw what I thought were some weird notations on the settings for the blogs I follow, and I ended up re-following your blog. It was only after this that I noticed your last post about taking a break. I hope all goes well with your current obligations, and I do look forward to when you return to writing. 🙂
